Happy New year to all our Auskick families.
Well, it’s hard to believe that the footy season is almost upon us, as it only feels like yesterday that we had our 2011 Presentation Day for Auskick!! Nevertheless, preparations are well & truly underway for what promises to be another exciting & action packed year of Auskick.
First of all, with regards to Registration Day, we have tentatively locked in a day in early March, however we are unable to confirm this until the AFL have confirmed the delivery dates of our packs, which we expect will be advised to us over the next week. Once again, this year you will have the choice to either register & pay online via the AFL’s Auskick website (www.aflauskick.com.au) or come along to our Registration Day. As some of you are aware, registering & paying online is a much more speedy & efficient way to register, compared to filling in registration forms on the day, so if you can assist us all by registering online, that would be greatly appreciated. The AFL have advised us that online registrations should be open to everyone in early February, so stay tuned & I will advise once it is available. If you do end up registering & paying online, please ensure that you select Templestowe Park as your preferred Auskick centre, as you will be presented with various choices of centres to select from.
As with previous years, the success of our Auskick centre is totally dependent on the volunteering of individuals, with either coaching, first aid, cooking a BBQ, helping run the canteen, etc. So I can start organising our resources for this year, I am keen to find out who is willing to assist us with the following:
- Coaching (either beginner / assistant coaches or lead coaches)
- First aid officer (must have suitable first aid qualifications)
- Canteen organiser or general helper
We will once again run a level 0 coaching clinic for those wanting to learn the basics of coaching, in the first few sessions (date to be advised). We will also be seeking nominations for those interested in undertaking the level 1 coaching course run by the AFL during the year. Last year we had 5 coaches undertake the level 1 course, taking the number of level 1 coaches in our clinic to around 10 in total. This year we will look to hopefully have around another 5 coaches go through this course further boosting the number of level 1 qualified coaches in our centre. For those that are interested, please let me know as soon as possible so I can put down your names whilst I await further details of dates & times from the AFL.
I look forward to seeing you all again in season 2012.
